CLIENT'S OBJECTIVES
The York Land Trust was founded in 1986 by a group of concerned citizens to promote the protection of the Town's natural resources. The Trust is a private, member-supported, not-for-profit organization dedicated to the conservation and preservation of lands of scenic, agricultural, ecological, or educational significance.
THE FACTS
Through the York Land Trust, CLD works with individual landowners and potential donors to define conservation easement areas. In addition to land exchanges, CLD also conducts boundary surveys and prepares plans to identify the easement, donation or exchange, for recording at the County Registry.
SURVEY
The CLD Survey Team has provided their clients with accurate, efficient surveys by utilizing well-trained individuals, as well as the most modern types of equipment and computer software. Based on the concept of first listening to the clients’ needs and then focusing on the specifics, CLD has constantly provided a reliable, quality product.
ORDINANCE REVIEW
CLD is consistent in its attempts to provide their clients with up-to-date information regarding current ordinance regulations. We have gained the knowledge of obtaining this data through our diligence in maintaining good records and maintaining good communications with local planners and code enforcement officers.
TECHNICAL RESOURCES
Due to advancements in local municipal Geographic Information Systems (GIS), many local communities, as well as county and state archive information, are now available on various websites. CLD uses these websites to save time and money in obtaining pertinent site information. CLD also utilizes real time Global Positioning Systems (GPS) and robotic total stations to further minimize time and cost in performing large and small projects.
THE RESULTS
CLD has assisted the Land Trust in the acquisition of easements permanently protecting approximately 400 acres on individual home lots adjacent to the York River. In addition, CLD has assisted the Land Trust in the protection of the Town’s natural resources by providing the information necessary to acquire easements of ownership, thereby allowing the Land Trust the opportunity to manage the lands for perpetuity.
