Project 7 - Downtown Transit Loop

This project provides startup capital and operating funds for a high frequency downtown transit loop that will bring transit choice closer to the community's citizens. City studies have shown that COAST and Wildcat Transit, the Seacoast's two intercity transit operators, do not adequately serve the potential ridership with a high enough frequency to desired destinations within the City of Dover. The City has proposed to complement COAST and Wildcat Transit with a high frequency transit loop to destinations in a compact urban setting with appropriately sized vehicles. Identified destinations include housing, employment, retail, service centers, medical centers, park-n-rides, and the train station. As a result of this project, the City will realize congestion reduction, increased use of alternative modes of transportation, and additional links to the intermodal passenger rail station and intercity transit buses. Dover will become an alternative transportation-friendly urban center.
